Software
Software We
Use
This list was put together by our prepress design team as a collection
of our most popular software and most used utilities in the layout process.
These titles also reflect our team's preferred forms from customer supplied
digital artwork. Take a look.
QuarkXPress
: http://www.quark.com/
This program is used for general layout and design. This is our preferred
application for prepress layout and typesetting. Images and photos are
generally imported into QuarkXPress from other Applications like Adobe
Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Macromedia Freehand, and others.
Adobe Photoshop
: http://www.adobe.com/photoshop/
For image scanning and calibration, Photoshop is the key to success. Photoshop
is mainly used for photo-imaging and image-editing for professional results.
Other products may work, but nothing cuts like Photoshop.
Adobe Illustrator
: http://www.adobe.com/illustrator/
Illustrator is the professional tool for vector graphics, such as type
effects and computer drawing. Use this excellent program for web graphics
and print images. Adobe Illustrator is MAC OSX compatible.
Adobe InDesign
: http://www.adobe.com/indesign/
Adobe is constantly reinventing itself with new software and cutting edge
technology. InDesign is no exception, with awesome design and layout tools
in the Adobe interface you may know. InDesign is a equivalent alternative
to QuarkExpress.
Adobe Type
Manager : http://www.adobe.com/atm/
Adobe Type Manager is a must if you are dealing with thousands, hundreds,
or even dozens of fonts. Organize PostScript® Type 1, OpenType®,
and TrueType fonts the way you want, without having to load them all.
Macromedia
Freehand : http://macromedia.com/freehand/
Macromedia's Freehand is similar to Adobe's Illustrator, but based more
on design and type. The best thing about this application? It's Free!
All Macromedia software is available free for a 30 day demo period before
you buy.
